About Soundwave
Soundwave Surf School is registered with the Irish Surfing Association and offers lessons of the highest standard, approved by the national governing body.
We also offer Stand Up Paddle Boarding on calm days, a sauna session in The Rust Box Sauna to restore you, and music events across multiple genres, on site or in The Valley House.
Soundwave is based on the grounds of the Bervie Guesthouse on the western end of Keel beach, Achill Island. With its beautiful gardens and breathtaking views of the Minaun Cliffs, Clare Island and the Atlantic Ocean for as far as meets the eye, this is the perfect place to enjoy Achill Island.
On site, Lílí Bán Cafe will look after you with locally roasted speciality coffee, teas and home-baked treats.
The face behind it all
Graham is a surfer and musician from Achill Island, Co. Mayo. He started surfing on Keel beach at eight years old, using an old board he borrowed.
He has since travelled the world surfing and playing music, spending time in California, Mexico and Brazil. When the whole world paused in 2020, Graham was forced to hit the brakes on his touring career in music. Not one to sit around for too long, he came up with the idea to bring all of his passions and skill sets home to Achill and create something positive. In 2021, Soundwave was born.
Soundwave is a combination of Graham’s greatest passions in life: surfing, music, culture, and classic cars.
As a surf instructor, he wants to help better the standard in Irish surfing and to introduce as many people as he can to this great sport. Safety and fun are Graham’s top priorities, and a surf lesson with him is the perfect way to experience the Irish waters this summer.
