When the waves are quiet, stand up paddle boarding is the best way to enjoy Achill’s coastline. Our beginner-friendly lessons are designed to help you find your balance, master the basics, and relax into the rhythm of the water. It’s safe, social, and surprisingly easy to pick up.
All equipment is included – board, paddle, and lifejacket, with wetsuits available if needed.

Your First SUP Session, Step by Step
Each lesson lasts around two hours, beginning with a quick land-based introduction to paddling and balance before heading onto calm, sheltered water.
Sessions are relaxed and flexible, giving everyone the chance to learn at their own pace while enjoying Achill’s stunning scenery.

What do I need to bring?
We provide the board, paddle, and lifejacket. Bring swimwear, a towel, and warm clothes for after your session. Wetsuits are available if it’s a cooler day.
Do I need any experience?
No – SUP is suitable for complete beginners. Our lessons start from the basics.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Basic swimming skills are required. Lifejackets are provided.
How long is the lesson?
Lessons run for two hours, including time to get kitted out and cover the basics on land.

Lessons are held in sheltered spots around Keel Beach, chosen for calm water and safe conditions.
